Since you make no mention of vibration readings I will give you a low tech answer. If you hear it you can time it with your watch. If I read correctly it increased with load. Once you get the frequecy from your watch pop the cover on the gears count the teeth. Do the math and look for the shaft at the speed that matches the knock. Check the teeth for burrs and the clearence in the bearings.
