I'm thinking that maybe one point is missing - That's the why - Why did the journal crack? Was the roll vibrating with sufficient velocity to fatigue the journal? Might be worth looking into. Seems like if you can answer that, then you should be able to predict the next failure - before it cracks. Good luck
